Yohimbine & Fat Loss by Hamza Anwar

Fat burners have been around for quite sometime now and Yohimbe is one of the most popular ingredients that's included in them. Yohimbe is actually a herbal ingredient that comes from the bark of an evergreen African tree. Yohimbe is said to aid fat loss by blocking certain receptors called alpha-2 adrenergic receptors which are located in fat cells. This then in theory is supposed to cause fat loss. However when it comes to hard data, the results are at best mixed. There was a study done with 20 obese women who were on a calorically restrictive diet and one group also took yohimbe while the other group was assigned a placebo. At the end of the 3 week study, the group who used yohimbe lost an an average of around 3 pounds more than the placebo group. However, I'm not a fan of this study as the sample size was extremely small which means the data is less representative of the population as a whole. Other studies done on yohimbe have shown no shown no statistically significant effect on fat loss.

In conclusion, I think that yohimbe needs to be studied more extensively with larger studies to see if there actually is a fat loss benefit to taking it, but as of now I would not reccomend taking yohimbe to aid with fat loss. Just stick to being in a caloric deficit and the weight will come off slowly. I promise you if a magic pill for fat loss comes out I will be the first to tell you guys.
